Harvard Alumni Contacts

A Harvard Alumni Contact is a volunteer who serves as the point of contact for both alumni and HAA for an area with a very small alumni population.

Contacts act as coordinators of local alumni activities and the hosts of HAA Enabled Programs for their assigned area. They manage their own lists of alumni that have opted-in to connect and share activities and updates about the local and global Harvard alumni community.

Engaging with the Local Alumni Community

Harvard Alumni Contacts can connect with alumni in their area in the following ways:

  • Emails

    • The HAA Clubs & SIGs team will send up to two emails per year (once a semester) on the Contact’s behalf to their local community to ask alumni to join the distribution list.

    • This requires 10 business days' notice to process and send the email and may likely take longer during peak communication times for Harvard, such as fundraising deadlines, Reunions and Alumni Day communications, and commencement notices.

  • HAA Alumni Directory

    • Use the HAA Alumni Directory’s advanced search features to find other alumni in your community

Participating in HAA-Enabled Programs

Contacts are invited to participate in the following HAA Enabled Programs and serve as hosts for their local alumni community.

Collaborating with Volunteers and the HAA

  • Club Connections Calls AKA Cohort calls

    • Contacts are invited to the regional Club Connections Calls hosted by the HAA Appointed Directors for Clubs in various regions.

Using the Harvard Name and Shield

Only Harvard Alumni Contacts approved by the HAA can use the Harvard name and shield in the following ways. Only one (1) volunteer per area is designated as a Harvard Alumni Contact at any given time.

  • Harvard Name

    • The approved name for the volunteer position is Harvard Alumni Contact of [location].

    • Please do not differentiate from this naming convention; deviation from this naming convention or unauthorized use of the name may lead to terminating the contact role.

  • Harvard Shield

    • A personalized logo for email signatures is not required for contacts, though it is an option if you decide to pursue it.

    • Changes cannot be made to the shield itself, and an appropriate amount of space needs to be included around the shield (i.e., no overlapping designs or shapes).

    • Logos cannot include national, group, or other types of flags in the design. Utilizing colors from the nation’s flags may be considered in the design.

    • All logos need to be approved by the Harvard Trademark Program and HAA before they can be used.
