Terms of Use – Email Forwarding Addresses for Classes, Clubs and Shared Interest Groups
Subject to these Terms of Use, the Harvard University Alumni Affairs and Development Office (AA&D) makes Harvard Alumni Organizational Email Forwarding Addresses available to Classes, Clubs, and Shared Interest Groups (SIGs), which may be used by the Class, Club, or SIG to communicate with their specific cohort of alumni or to conduct organizational business with alumni. Only one organizational email forwarding address will be allowed per Class, Club, or SIG.
To safeguard the use of these organizational email forwarding addresses, AA&D has adopted these Terms of Use:
• On all AA&D platforms, prohibited activities include, but are not limited to: (1) activities that are illegal or fraudulent; (2) use that inaccurately implies endorsement, approval, or sponsorship by Harvard University or AA&D (or any individual officer of Harvard or AA&D); (3) use that can be confused with official communications of Harvard University, AA&D or their officers; and (4) activities that violate the Terms of Use found on the alumni.harvard.edu website.
• If AA&D determines that a user's participation creates a risk of liability for AA&D or the University; that the user has violated these Terms of Use; or that the user has violated any applicable laws or regulations, AA&D reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to deny that user’s further access to that organization’s email forwarding address and can disconnect the organization’s email forwarding address from that user’s email account. AA&D reserves the right to suspend or discontinue an e-mail forwarding address for any organization based on the organization’s repeated or significant violations of these Terms of Use.
• Use of the Harvard Alumni Organizational Email Forwarding Address is for authorized Class, Club or SIG purposes only, and must comply with AA&D policies regarding Classes, Clubs and SIGs. Using it for personal, commercial, public, or political purposes is strictly prohibited. Specific questions about what is permissible should be directed to the HAA.
• Use of obscene or vulgar materials or use of abusive, defamatory, profane, or threatening language of any kind is prohibited. Use of an organization’s email forwarding address in ways that are not aligned with Harvard Alumni Affairs and Development’s Community Expectations found on this website are also prohibited. In addition, users shall not share any materials containing viruses, malware, or any other software designed to harm others’ technology.
• Harvard Alumni Organizational Email Forwarding Addresses may not be shared or transferred to other parties without permission from the AA&D. Requests to update the email account to which the organizational address forwards must be submitted through your approved requestor (see “Approved Requestors” below).
• The Harvard Alumni Organizational Email Forwarding Address offering is contingent upon Harvard University’s contract with DuoCircle, Harvard’s alumni email forwarding service provider. If a decision is made at the University level to discontinue use, AA&D does not guarantee a replacement offering for alumni volunteers.
